Abstract:
This study aims to analyze policy strategies in tourism destination development through the role of tour groups in enhancing the tourist appeal of Gerongokng, Engkuni Pasek Village, Kutai Barat Regency. The research design employed in this study was quantitative descriptive. This study was carried out at Kutai Barat Regency's Engkuni Pasek Village, a popular tourist site in Gerongokng. Both primary and secondary data were included in the collection. Key informants were used to gather primary data. A strategic analysis technique using a Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities, and Threats framework was used for data analysis. According to the study's findings, an aggressive approach should be used in the development of the Gerongokng tourism attraction in Engkuni Pasek Village, Kutai Barat Regency (cell 1). The following alternate strategies are suggested: 1) enhancing popular tourist destinations by leveraging regional autonomy to improve infrastructure and boost promotion; 2) enhancing popular tourist destinations by leveraging Kutai Barat Regency's conditions as a buffer zone for the Indonesian Capital City; 3) enhancing the distinctiveness of popular tourist destinations by leveraging tourists' growing interest; 4) enhancing local culture by leveraging technology to access villages; and 5) enhancing homestay development programs by leveraging tourists' growing interest. Suboptimal infrastructure, promotion, and resource quality are challenges in the development of tourism sites. Among the suggestions that can be communicated are the following: establishment of tourist destinations, the implementation of aggressive strategies, the necessity of infrastructure development, the involvement of local communities in tourism destination management, and the optimisation of promotional strategies.
